Here are just a few suggestions for finding a team.
Most of the leagues affiliated with OASA offer outdoor play only. That said, starting with an indoor team might be just the connection you need for finding an outdoor team. Start by contacting the indoor facility in the area in which you would like to play as they should be able to help as most facilities have means for helping players get connected with teams.
Sometimes players can find a team just by getting a player card and showing up to a field with few different colors of shirts and asking if anyone is looking for a player. (This is often more common for men in the men’s leagues and more common for women in the coed leagues.) Some of the more competitive divisions might have specific roster rules, so you’ll want to check with the league if you have any doubts. (The roster rules pretty much just the premier level and college-specific leagues though.)
encourage players to contact one or all of the leagues directly as most coaches
and managers will go directly to the league when seeking additional players for
their teams. Some leagues have forums on their websites or a volunteer who will specifically try to help players find a team.
The Greater Portland Soccer District (men's) has an online forum, too!
There are a number of pick-up games through-out the state. While we don't have a comprehensive list, we know that a few Facebook and Meet-up groups exist that will get you out on the pitch - groups that can easily be found though a basic search.
